The Havering Astronomical Society
(hereafter referred to as ‘the Society’) is fully committed to protecting children. Whenever there is contact between the Society and with children, the society recognises that a child’s welfare is paramount in all circumstances. In fulfilling our obligations in respect to Child Protection, the Society fully adopts the Federation of Astronomical Societies’
Guidelines on Child Protection. The Society will make this policy statement and the Federation of Astronomical Societies' Child Protection Guidelines,

Responsibilities
Within the Society, the responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Federation of Astronomical Societies' (FAS) Child Protection Guidelines lies with Leslie Jones, Chairperson of the Society who is the Designated Child Protection Officer (DCPO). The secondary, or back up person responsible for following the FAS Guidelines for Child Protection in the Society is known as the Deputy DCPO, and that is Les Brand, Outreach Officer of the Society.
